『Legends of Amberland』シリーズ、PCでも日本上陸!

『Legends of Amberland』

Amberland is going Japanese!

Legends of Amberland series heads to Japan!

Link to Japanese translation of this news.

The Legends of Amberland series (PC) was localized into Japanese!
New versions of all Amberland games were released (yesterday and one today), all of them containing a crude, early, Japanese translations.

  • Legends of Amberland: The Forgotten Crown (v1.32) release notes
  • Legends of Amberland II: The Song of Trees (v1.25) release notes
  • Legends of Amberland III: The Crimson Tower (v1.12) release notes

Important note on quality: This is the first attempt to localizing ANY of my games to ANY Asian language. So, it is very a very crude first attempt and will have problems, those will be fixed of course. During the first localization step I was focusing on technicalities (characters displayed properly, making things bigger so those characters are readable, auto resizing text where needed, etc) while quality of translation itself was a low priority. Once I gather players feedback on things and it’s confirmed that, on technical side, everything is acceptable, I will proceed to improving the text quality itself.

BTW, I have heard that Japanese legislation requires and explicit permission to anyone who would want to localize the game (it can be done trivially by editing text files in “data/locale/” folder). Therefore, Silver Lemur Games grants anyone the right to localize the game (by changing locale/ game folder content) to Japanese (and other languages) and to distribute those locale files via various means. You might save yourself the link to this post if you need it for legal reasons, it’s persistent. Oh yes, if you do, you might consider dropping me the improved locale as well.

This is the first step in bringing the world of Amberland to more players across Asia. Since lack of those localizations was caused by technical limitations only. But now, when the game engine supports Asian character set, additional Asian language localizations are inevitable. Stay tuned!

Version 1.12 released

Finally, the game has been localized to several languages (and more to come)! What’s more, for the first time, Asian language has been included (Japanese in this version)! Amberland series has crossed the Rubicon of proper UTF-8 support, which means, from now on, all sort of Asian languages are possible! This version might have minor problems with localization, but rather minor and rare ones (plus, the game has auto verification of localization, so in case of serious problems the game will simply display English version of a text instead of crashing).

In case you wondered, yes, more Asian languages are planned and the same localization was already done for all previous instalments of the series.

– [misc] DE, FR, PL, JP language.
– [misc] Proper UTF-8 support (for Asian languages).

– [fix] Incorrect information about location of one trainer.
– [fix] Spelling mistakes.

Amberland is coming to mobile (Android and iOS)!

Legends of Amberland series is being ported to mobile!

I’m happy to announce that a few days ago I signed a deal to bring the entire Legends of Amberland trilogy to mobile devices.

The ports are being developed by Bart Mamzer, a fellow indie developer from the local game development scene with many years of experience creating both mobile and PC games.

All three games are coming to Android and iOS (Apple):

  • Legends of Amberland: The Forgotten Crown
  • Legends of Amberland II: The Song of Trees
  • Legends of Amberland III: The Crimson Tower

As with the PC versions, the mobile releases will use a good old premium model: buy once and enjoy the full game. No microtransactions, no energy systems, no ads, just a complete game.

The exact release schedule, launch order, regions, and dates have not yet been finalized, I’ll share those details later.

Most of the technical groundwork has already been completed, and development is progressing well.

I’m excited to see Amberland make the jump to mobile and reach a whole new audience of adventurers and reach new digital frontiers!

Legends of Amberland III version 1.11

Version 1.11 released

The second after release version is out. The most requested feature, Midnight Rune is back! Reworked it, so now it works completely different. It’s enough if only one party member cast it (it affects all party bonuses, even fountain effect) and the only cost is that the caster has reduced maximum MP while the rune is drawn. Actually, it has nothing to do with “midnight”, but decided to keep the old name since many of you said it would be all right. Next, Custom difficulty option was fixed, polished and moved to regular features. Also the usual small improvements and fixes.

– [feature] Custom difficulty start option moved from experimental to regular features (also finetuned).
– [feature] Midnight rune (it’s very different than one in Legends of Amberland II) allows sustain party bonuses so those do not expire. It can be cast by anyone (so one hero can extend the effect cast by another class, like Wizard would sustain the effect of the Bard). It also affects fountains duration. Caster’s maximum MP is reduced by 1/5 while the rune is drawn.

– [interface] “Use Magic” button tooltip now has hotkey listed.
– [interface] Hotkeys no longer listed in any tooltips on Steam Deck (since it has no keyboard so it makes no sense).

– [fix] Custom difficulty (experimental feature back then) was always set to Easy regardless of choice.
– [fix] Spelling mistakes.

Legends of Amberland III version 1.10

Version 1.10 released

So, the first after release version is out! It introduces a feature which I haven’t managed to finish for v1.00, an option to start with a smaller party size (for now as experimental feature, you need to enable it via Options/Gameplay/More/Enable Experimental Features then Custom difficulty will appear under New Game). It allows you to play with fewer party members (the rules are adjusted a bit to make it somewhat even). There is a traditional rebalance (easier made easier also less experience required to level up across all difficulty levels), a nice feature for people who play with gamepad (auto deactivate/activate mouse cursor) and smaller changes, fixes, etc.

– [feature] Experimental feature (enable Experimental features in Options/Gameplay first): Added Custom difficulty which allows to play with a smaller party size (5/3/1 heroes). The game adjusts the combat rules/difficulty depending on number of party members (with fewer heroes you get less experience required to level up, extra actions in combat, extra HPs in solo mode).

– [misc] Start with central character selected.
– [misc] Autofill Party option now tries to make the same party as Quick Start option.
– [misc] Improved manual.

– [balance] Reduced experience required to level up (to allow reaching level 50 on most difficulty levels without Monster Respawn enabled). Note: if affects existing saves (you might find you can level up after you load your older save).
– [balance] Reduced monsters HP and Damage on Easy difficulty.

– [interface] Improved Magic screen (bigger fonts on lower resolutions, especially useful for Steam Deck).
– [interface] Clue tooltip adjusted to make it more clear that some quests might require fewer clues.
– [interface] Mouse cursor is automatically deactivated when gamepad is used, when mouse is used then it reactivates.

– [fix] Many small spelling fixes and small NPC dialogue improvements.
– [fix] Other small fixes.

Legends of Amberland III: The Crimson Tower has been released on PC!

Legends of Amberland III released on Steam & GOG

Today, on 2nd March 2026, the third part of the Amberland series has been released on PC.

Legends of Amberland III: The Crimson Tower is a classic RPG made out of my nostalgia for the 90s era of RPGs. It’s a turn-based, first-person view, over-the-grid movement, party-based RPG where you lead a group of heroes on an epic quest without dealing with moral dilemmas and other nonsense. There are dragons to kill, treasures to be found, people to be rescued, and an evil behind the events in Amberland that you must deal with, of course, as the noble heroes who undertake such quests.

At release, the game is available in English only, but very soon it will be localized to German, French, and Polish. Later, even more languages are planned to be added.

The consoles port (Nintendo Switch) is planned, but I can not give any estimate when.

The game has a full gamepad support (and Steam Deck support) at release.

Technical note: the exact time of the release on each online store might differ a bit (but not much).

Note that during the first 3 months or so after release there might be balance changes if needed. But overall, the saves will be compatible regardless of changes and adjustments.

I want to express my gratitude to all my long and short-term contractors who contributed assets, music and more. Thank you!

I would also like to thank all the testers, feedback bringers, and others who provided support in one way or another – without you, it would be much, much harder for me to make the game, and it would not have reached the quality it has today. Thanks!

So, the third part of the series is out. This concludes the trilogy. I don’t know if there will be another trilogy set in Amberland, who knows, maybe one day. As for me, I consider it complete, and I don’t have any immediate plans for future instalments. Maybe I would release the editor or some sort of Amberland Miniadventures, who knows, but I don’t plan a full blown game, at least at the moment. As usual, I implore you to leave a review if you liked the game. Reviews matter a lot to a niche game like Amberland!

Thank you for your support. See ya and have fun!

New features in Legends of Amberland III

Here is a list of all ALREADY IMPLEMENTED (at the moment of writing, v0.90) features for Legends of Amberland III: The Crimson Tower. Note that the current demo version is v0.30 and it does not have all features listed below included yet. There might be a few more things added in the last minute to v1.00 but overall the list should be quite complete.

Overall, it has some bigger changes (like new classes, recruitable heroes, clues system, new environments effects, fountains mechanic, two handed weapons, elemental damage weapons), expected changes (new monsters, new art assets, new music, etc), long requested features (vulnerabilities for monsters) and numerous trivial improvements (rebalance, mechanics adjustments, etc).

But there is one more thing, which is not on the list. Apparently, my design skills for dungeons making increased since the first Amberland. Those locations got much higher ratings from early testers than locations from the previous parts of the series, which makes me especially happy.

So, here it goes, the full list of changes (BTW, my personal favorite is the clues system since it allowed making encounters with smaller random NPCs meaningful and rewarding, without the need to introduce a full blown side quest for each small NPC).

Notable features:
– New world map, locations (and more interesting design of locations), quests, etc.
– New monsters.
– New music.
– New tiles (ruined statues, etc) and other graphical improvements.
– Interface overhaul (note that current screnshots show the old interface).
– New item types: Lamps, Orbs, Quivers.
– New item properties (Flaming/Freezing/Thunder).
– Extra elemental damage for weapons.
– Two handed weapons (also bows and staves are now two handed weapons).
– Vulnerabilities: some monsters are vulnerable (extra damage received) to Fire/Cold/Lightning. For example Trolls have Fire vulnerability.
– Recruitable Heroes (you can stumble on random heroes in inns who will join your party, you can switch a party members in inns back and forth).
– Clues mechanic (I love that one a lot).
– Toxic fumes mechanic.
– Dark dungeons mechanic (Light spell or Lamp required).
– Improved dungeon logic which allowed me to create more interesting and complex locations (multi stairs, teleports and barriers now react to levers/buttons).
– Fountains now work as a party bonus, also limited to be under effect of a single (the last one) fountain.
– Option to “work” for X days to earn extra gold.

Classes:
– Two new classes (Blade Dancer and Hermit Warrior).
– Heroic ballad (from first LoA) for Bard is back.
– Champion got basic heal spells.
– Troll Slayer gets back its 3rd accessory slot.
– Dwarven archer starts with a bow.
– Unique spells for Archer.

Balance and small stuff:
– NPCs extra (and frequently colored) text when new quest starts, item is given, etc.
– Rebalance: Arcane (staves, items, etc).
– Spells overall rebalance.
– Armor doubled for critical hits.
– Vitality ability boosted.
– Poison mechanic made more predictable (guaranteed expire after X ticks).
– Added notice that boat can not enter non shallow water (in previous titles such situation never occurred).
– Now portraits upon party creation are unique (selector does not include already used portraits).
– Additional portraits to select from (just a few more).
– Shields Block (Shields grant +33% to Evade).
– New mechanic “Bound” items (right now used by staring equipment for Blade Dancer only).
– Unified origins (old subraces) attribute gains per level (now all origins get it every 8/10/15 levels).
– Other smaller balancing, improvements and fixes.

EDIT: Extra stuff added 2026.03.02
In the meantime, additional features were implemented or are in the process of being implemented right now:
– (v1.00) Time system changed, now all spells (and fountain effects) do not expire on Midnight but over time (hourly). It’s shown on the effect icon by it becoming darker over time.
– (planned) Almost finished “Custom Difficulty” option which would allow to play with fewer number of party members (it’s similar to LoA2 ‘Unrestricted party creation’ option, but now it’s better integrated with the rest of the game).

Make sure to wishlist the game, if you haven’t done so yet!
